I Can't Open a Folder on My external Hard Drive?

I had the same problem with a USB that wasn't opening any folders or wasn't showing them. And it also said to format. The only choice "my opinion" is to take it to the other computer and see if it works there otherwise you'll have to format it and you'll lose everything. I unfortunately had to erase everything to get it working again. Sorry man, you should call geek squad or best buy.
